Located in an auditorium formerly known as the Sir Cowasji Jehangir Public Hall. The NGMA acquires and preserves works of modern art from the 1850s onward. The gallery holds permanent displays as well as special exhibitions not only in its own premises but in other parts of the country and abroad. It also organises lectures, seminars and conferences, and encourages higher studies and research in the field of art.
