Asia Arts Game Changers Awards

Asia Society is back with their second edition of Asia Arts Game Changers Awards. This year, Asia Arts Future Awards would be presented to Benitha Perciyal from India and Sun Xun from China for understanding and perception of contemporary art in their country. In addition, Arpita Singh and Kochi Biennale Foundation (Riyas Komu and Bose Krishnamachari) would be presented Asia Arts Vanguard Awards.

At a ceremony in New Delhi on February 8, the Asia Society India Centre will also present the work of last year’s awardee Japanese collective, teamLab at the India Art Fair for the first time in India.
“Asia Arts Awards are meant to bring together a community of artists, arts supporters and patrons that encourage and foster the development of contemporary Art in the continent,” shared Bunty Chand, CEO, Asia Society India Centre. “Our hope is that through these awards-artists, arts professionals, collectors and the public within Asia develop a deeper connection, understanding and engagement with each other’s art practices,” he added.
The first edition of Asia Arts Awards India, last year, felicitated Abir Karmakar, the artist collective teamLab, and Krishen Khanna.
“As a global initiative, this event in India builds on the original awards platform in Hong Kong to give a more diverse picture of Asian art in the contemporary moment,” said Boon Hui Tan, Vice President of Global Arts & Cultural Programs and Director of Asia Society Museum.
Inaugurated by Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in 2006, Asia Society has been a pioneer in identifying and fostering the latest contemporary Asian artists, and engaging new audiences for their work for 20 years now. Its India Centre seeks to connect India with the Asia-Pacific community by promoting mutual understanding, generating new ideas, and fostering collaborative action across the fields of arts and culture, and policy and business.
