Jan 30 – Feb 2, 2020 | NSIC Exhibition Ground, Okhla, New Delhi
Serendipity Arts Foundation is back in the New Year as an Institutional participant at the upcoming edition of India Art Fair 2020. The IAF display aims to extend the Festival’s core goals of promoting multidisciplinary practice and discourse across the arts and promoting diverse artistic expression from various parts of the sub-continent and the South Asian region. In addition, Israeli multimedia artist Achia Anzi, supported by Serendipity Arts Foundation, will present a LED-based light project composed of lines from poems penned by five thinkers and philosophers across time periods: Judah Abravanel (1464-1530), Henry Louis Vivan Derozio (1809-31), Aime Cesaire (1913-2008), Paul Celan (1920-1970) and Mahmoud Darwish (1941-2008). Titled Colonial Times 2019, it will include both text and audio recitations of the original poems in Hebrew, French, German, English and Arabic along with their English translations. Both of these projects will be hosted at the Outdoor Project Section at IAF 2020. Exploring the logic and experience of colonialism, Achia Anzi is an artist who takes inspiration from books, objects, people, and ideas. Whether through his installations, sculptures or video work, Anzi often attempts to portray not only his own feelings but also the crisis experienced by his home country, Israel.
Also showcased at the Fair will be a selection of videos from Sudarshan Shetty’s 2019 curation from Serendipity Arts Festival titled Look Outside This House. Broadly, at the festival, the project was aimed to present indigenous inventions and informal industries that have origins in catering to real-life circumstantial needs with lasting social impact on communities at large.
