None other can delineate a horse as he does. In his fanciful ideation, “A horse is a celebration of time, energy, and speed. It is a darvesh in equine form.” Yes, you reckoned him correct. He is the master of numerous arts, Muzaffar Ali.

During his magnificent career of over four decades, he has donned many hats as an artist, filmmaker, poet, fashion designer, cultural revivalist, social worker, and most recently, an adroit sculptor. Hailing from a royal lineage of Kotwara in Awadh, Muzaffar Ali inherits an aesthetic and exquisite proficiency in telling stories in a fanciful manner through his art. He articulates all his subjects – horses, landscapes, vintage automobiles, and artworks – with great passion and insight, beautifully portraying the hidden language of textures. He views all his passions through a cinematic lens, adding the flavour of fantasy and romance, thus creating an immersive sensory experience for the viewers.

In Muzaffar Ali’s artworks, he comprehends resplendence coupled with a great message. His ongoing exhibition, FARASNAMA: Legend of the Horse, is much anticipated and an envisioned one, which evinces sketches on his favorite subject – the horse.

The intuitive dreamer, Ali, also exhibits a limited edition, metal work collection named BARAK after his horse, which he wanted to share with art lovers worldwide. Get a glimpse of the beautiful Zooni Portraits and embrace EQUUS, a larger series featuring horses in the exhibition. Ali also unveils his newly calibrated calligraphy work, which is a treat for art admirers.

The show is curated beautifully by Uma Nair and designed by his wife, Meera Ali. It’s on view until October 28, 2023, at Bikaner House, New Delhi.
