Director, Priyank Jain, Dhoomimal.com on the show: A line drawing is the purest form from which art emanates. All the greatest artists the world has known were great draftsmen and this linear control and the eventual distortion of it has come to define them as geniuses of their eras! On display will be drawings of several past and living masters of the Indian art fraternity, some of whom we revere as legends and whom every student of art, admirer and aficionado looks up to. This show is mounted as an annual format and the search for suitable works gives us as much pleasure as it gives to enthralled viewers every year.

Highlights: Akbar Padamsee’s faces and Arpana Caur’s forms embody minimal qualities, subtle and remote. Satish Gujral’s works on the other hand are bold and good examples of the moulded form as are Thota Vaikuntam’s women portraits. Souza’s nudes exude brute reality, images throbbing with the synergy of lines. Lalu Prasad Shaw’s work is defined by a delicate sensibility of the Bengali bhadralok while Ganesh Pyne delves into the folk elements of Bengal school.
