On the 21st of June, World Music Day, the historic Travancore Palace will become the backdrop for Baarish, a curated seasonal experience that celebrates the many magical moods of the monsoon. Conceived as a three-part series taking place on 21st June, 26th July, and 23rd August 2025, Baarish invites audiences to slow down, tune in, and rediscover the poetic intimacy of the rains.
Curated and produced by Excurators Events in collaboration with India Cultural Hub, Baarish unfolds beneath a transparent canopy, allowing guests to experience the atmosphere of the rains while nestled within the architectural richness of the palace. It is a multisensory experience that blends live music, immersive art, storytelling, and monsoon cuisine into a single, flowing narrative—reflective, soulful, and transformative.
“Step into the monsoon’s embrace at Baarish—where the soulful strains of santoor dance with the rhythm of falling raindrops. Wander through interactive art installations that come alive to your touch, as monsoon mists swirl around Travancore Palace’s historic arches.
Let Café Lota’s chefs transport you with their signature monsoon thali—featuring jackfruit koftas, smoked corn soup, and saffron-infused phirni that taste like childhood memories. As you dine, historian Eric Chopra unveils forgotten stories of monsoon traditions, from Mughal rain ceremonies to colonial-era weather diaries.
The evening crescendos with the reinterpretation of raga Megh Malhar, their strings echoing the patter of first showers. In curated corners, discover monsoon silks that change hue with humidity and artisanal perfumes capturing the petrichor of Delhi’s first rain.
This is where every sense remembers why we wait all year for the clouds to break– a celebration of rain not as weather, but as cultural poetry.”
